I study stratigraphy and fluid flow processes in deep-water sedimentary basins. My study area is the Mars-Ursa Region in the Gulf of Mexico. This is a fascinating setting where rapid Pleistocene deposition of a sand-rich basin-floor fan and two channel-levee systems have created an active hydrodynamic system where submarine landslides, seafloor vents, and shallow water flow drilling hazards occur.
