CE Lodge, Stone Valley, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania
Itinerary
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3
2-6 p.m.: Registration in the EMS Museum, Deike Building. Those staying at Stone Valley will be issued a map and their assigned cabin.
2-6 p.m.: Self-guided tours of Department facilities and labs. Faculty and grad students will be available in the various labs. Pick up a tour sheet in the EMS Museum.
6-8 p.m.: Wine/ beer/ cheese reception in the EMS Museum, Deike Building. A Powerpoint presentation with selected images from each field camp will run continuously.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4
10 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Three concurrent field trips
a. Hydrogeology of the State College area, leaving from Deike Building, led by Dick Parizek
b. Geology of the Stone Valley area, leaving from the CE Lodge, led by Duff Gold and Arnold Doden
c. Penn State campus tour
1 p.m.: Lunches at the CE Lodge. Must be reserved ahead of time!
1:30-5:30 p.m., CE Lodge: informal activities. Beer, wine, soft drinks, and snacks available at the CE Lodge. Walks around the lake (sorry, boating is not available on the lake because the water level will be lowered for dam repairs). Volleyball available at the CE Lodge. The Powerpoint presentation from Friday night will continue to run. Laptops will be available to view ALL the images from each field camp in their "big" versions (smaller, edited images appear on the Web, and blank CDs will be available to burn images.
~2 p.m., CE Lodge: Field trip led by Dick Parizek on the hydrogeology of the lake and dam
5:30-7 p.m., CE Lodge: Barbecue dinner. Chicken, burgers, veggie burgers, and hot dogs will have been grilled on the spot by Dave Eggler and Peter Deines.
7-8:30 p.m., CE Lodge: Welcome by Department Head Tim Bralower. Selected faculty and alumni will reminisce about various eras of field camps.
8:30- 11 p.m.: Party continues. Beer, wine, soft drinks, and snacks will continue to be available.
