The Canon multi-function printers graphite (342 Deike) and isis (542 Deike) require special settings.  This document will guide you through installation of the driver and configuration of the devices on your Macinstosh OS X 10.5 computer.  Screen appearance, labels, work flows, and other details may differ on previous operating system releases.

  1. Download the driver from the samba server software share .  Switch to Finder and choose Go -> Connect to Server .
  2. Extract the zip archive by double-clicking.  Execute the UFR II Installer program.  Follow the prompts and reboot when driver installation completes.
  3. Open the System Preferences Print & Fax panel.  Click the + button to add a new printer.
  4. Select the IP button from the toolbar.  Complete the form with these values:
    • Protocol: Line Printer Daemon (LPD)
    • Address: graphite.geosc.psu.edu OR isis.emsadm.psu.edu
    • Queue: do not complete this field
    • Name: graphite OR isis

On a number of systems, the driver may not show in the search results (Step 4.2).  This happens because the installer fails to copy all of the files to the correct locations on the computer disk drive.  The solution is to rerun the installer package.  On the second installation the drivers will be properly installed.
