WRITING-INTENSIVE COURSES IN GEOSCIENCES

The University requires that all students complete at least one writing-intensive course to meet graduation requirements. These courses are designated with a `W' suffix and students must satisfy this requirement by choosing a `W' designated course from within their major or college (this is different from the diversity-focused requirement which may be satisfied by choosing a `DF' designated course from any course in the Penn State curriculum).

The following is a list of all writing intensive courses the department offers:

  • Geosc 402W - Natural Disasters
  • Geosc 413W - Techniques in Environmental Geochemistry
  • Geosc 470W - Introduction to Field Geology
  • Geosc 475W - Global Biochemical Cycles
  • Geosc 494W - Senior Thesis

These classes will fulfill two requirements on your degree audit: the first towards your Geosciences Degree and the second the mandatory Writing Intensive class requirement.
