2012 Peter Deines Lectureship given this week

3/30/2012

The 2012 Peter Deines Lectureship will be held on April 3rd at 4pm in 22 Deike.

This year's lecture will be given by Bryan Kaproth.  As you know, Bryan was awarded first place for his oral presentation at the 2011 Graduate Colloquium by a post-comprehensive Ph.D. student.

The Peter Deines Lectureship award was started in 2004 to represent the tremendous amount of respect and admiration the graduate students in the Department of Geosciences had for Dr. Peter Deines, who that year was stepping down from the position of Graduate Program Chairman. Since that time, recipients of the honor have been invited to give a departmental colloquium talk during the proceeding academic year.

The department and the world lost a great man and wonderful person when Peter passed away on February 2, 2009. It is with great pride that the Graduate Student Colloquium continues the tradition born in 2004.
