 Annual Postdoc Research Exhibition is on September 22, 2017 from noon to 5:00 HUB as a part of the National Postdoc Appreciation Week.

 Practice science communication skills, network with other postdocs and research associates and win prizes.

 An opportunity for postdocs and research associates to attend panel discussion on academic career paths, present posters, participate in lightning talk competition, meet postdocs and research associates from all across the campus and win prizes. One can register for either the panel discussion or poster session or both. Details of the day’s program, FAQs are in the attached flyer.

·         Panelists for the discussion on career paths in academia are Dr. Jared Ali, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, PSU; Dr. Ramakrishnan Rajagopalan, Assistant  Professor, Dept. of Engineering, Penn State Dubois and Dr. Anne Justice, Assistant Professor, Biomedical and Translational Informatics at Geisinger Health.  ·         Postdocs and research associates interested in presenting a poster can reuse a poster from past meetings as long as it is less than or equal to 6ft wide X 4 ft tall. Poster presenters will be presenting to judges from different disciplines- a great way to exercise your science communication skills and prepare for career transitions. Registration for posters at

 ·         This is the first year that postdocs and research associates who mentor an undergraduate research project will get an opportunity to present a poster with their mentee. Posters from past meetings or conferences can be used. More details and registration information at

·         Judges are critical for being able to give out prizes. If you are interested in judging posters outside of your discipline, learn about the breadth of research being done by postdocs at Penn State, register here . This is a good opportunity for new and recently hired postdocs to engage with the postdoc community at Penn State.

·         The prizes for the first three positions in the Poster Competition are $500, $300, $100.  

 ·         Five poster presenters will be selected for Lightning Talk competition. Each talk will be for a maximum of five minutes where the postdoc/research associate presents his/her research in a concise, engaging manner without technical jargon. Slides or demonstration models can be used. All five selected presenters will get a travel award for $200* each.

 ·         The winner of the lightning talk competition will get a travel award of $500 *selected by audience members and selected judges from faculty, staff and postdocs. Prizes are contingent on having adequate participation. 

(* Travel awards will be given as reimbursements after attending the conference/meeting.)

·         You can choose to attend the panel discussion or poster session/lightning talk or all the sessions.

·         Attend the Outstanding Postdoc and Faculty Mentor awards ceremony and join in the National Postdoc Appreciation week celebrations!
