We strongly encourage our students to incorporate some kind of international experience into their undergraduate education. We currently have field geology and semester abroad options.

Summer Field Geology Program in Italy

Through the Penn State Office of International Programs, we offer a 6-week, 6 credit field geology program in Italy. This program includes two courses that can be used to fulfill degree requirements in Geoscience, Geobiology, and Earth Science.

Summer Field Geology Program in ItalyStudents learn basic field geology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and tectonics while traveling through the Apennines and Alps.

The program is based out of a field station situated in a hill-top town in the Marche region of Italy.

Good food is a key part of this program!

Semester Abroad

Students can choose from a wide range of exchange programs that Penn State has with universities around the world.

In recent years, students have attended Leeds University and the University of Southampton in England, Waikato and Victoria Universities in New Zealand.

Courses taken in geosciences or earth sciences at these universities can fulfill degree requirements for any of our majors.
