TOTEMS Orientation Program

Totems Orientation ProgramTotal Orientation to Earth and Mineral Sciences (TOTEMS) is a summer program for first-year students in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. You'll spend three days at Lake Raystown, a resort area approximately one hour from campus, where you'll get to meet fellow first-year students and network with current students, faculty, and alumni.

Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG)


The purpose of the Penn State Student Chapter of the Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG) is to enhance the quality and level of participation of PSU women in the geosciences, to mentor undergraduate women in the geosciences, and to introduce K-12 students in central PA to geoscience opportunities.

Irvin Hall, EMS Special Interest House

Sedimentary Geology Research GroupIrvin Hall, is a special living option for students in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. Built in 1925, Irvin is one of the oldest buildings on campus and is ideally situated in scenic West Halls, just minutes from Deike Building, Pattee Library, and downtown. Irvin is truly a 'house,' with only 90 residents housed co-ed by floor.
