The Department of Geosciences at Penn State values diversity, prioritizes inclusion, and strives for justice and equity within our community and beyond. We recognize that geosciences as a field and our community at Penn State is significantly underrepresented in groups that have historically been minoritized and marginalized in STEM.
We are committed to building safe spaces and working toward broad access and support for inclusive participation in Earth and planetary sciences; we value the ways our fundamental science and teaching efforts support sustainability and environmental justice; and we work to understand and grow connections between our work and societal needs.
The Department of Geosciences Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee coordinates efforts aimed at broadening justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within the department and works closely with the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences Associate Dean for Educational Equity to support efforts within the college.
